With English football dominating this season’s European finals, two Premier League sides will go head-to-head on the continent once more later this year when they contest the UEFA Super Cup.
Tottenham face Liverpool in Madrid in the first all-English Champions League Final in over a decade, since Manchester v Chelsea in Moscow 2008. The winner will play new Europa League champions Chelsea – who beat a poor Arsenal side in Wednesday’s final in Baku.
When is it?
The Uefa Super Cup will take place on Wednesday, August 14 and will kick off at 8pm BST. With the Premier League season starting on August 10 it will perhaps serve as a distraction to early progress as the finalists look to get their domestic campaigns off to a best possible start.
Where is it?
The Super Cup is set to be held at Vodafone Park in Istanbul, Turkey. The stadium is home to Besiktas and holds just over 41,000 fans.
The Vodafone Arena is as modern as modern stadiums come. Combine that with the passion of the Besiktas fans and one of the most stunning stadium locations in the world, and you’ve got an unbeatable experience.

How to get to the Vodafone Arena
The Vodafone Arena is located slightly north-east of Istanbul’s city centre on the banks of the Bosphorus next to Dolmabahçe Palace. It lies about 2.5 kilometres from Galata bridge and 1 kilometre from Taksim Square, from where it is a 15-minute walk to the stadium.
You will have no trouble finding anything of your liking near Taksim Square or Istiklal Avenue. Though not the capital of Turkey, Istanbul is arguably the most famous and popular part of the country. For that reason it’s easy enough to get there, depending on where you’re travelling from:
By Air – The Istanbul Ataturk Airport (LTBA) is just over ten miles from the centre of Istanbul. A car transfer straight to the ground is approximately 45 minutes.
Ataturk is a main airport and is open 24 hours, which perfect for a football match that starts late in the evening and carry on until near enough midnight with extra time and penalties a possibility. With a runway of 9,842ft it is suitable for a wide variety of private aircraft.
