Pets are a part of the family. We wouldn’t be without them and that also means when you go on holiday. We have access to over a hundred private jets of all sizes to suit your travel needs. Travelling with your pet is never easy, however when you fly private, the process is a simple way to travel.
Whether you’re planning on flying to your second home in Mallorca or travelling to the Caribbean for a family holiday, we can assist you with your private jet pet travel plans.
Flying private makes sense in every aspect. If you’re thinking of bringing a pet on-board, note the following: You must use a DEFRA approved private jet operator for that particular airport. What happens on the day of travel?
Check-in
The check- in procedure for commercial travel is stressful at the best of times and travelling with your pet adds to that. However when you fly private you bypass all of the hassle of the main terminal. You will arrive at a separate small facility dedicated to business jets.
You will wait for a short time, after having your passport checked by a member of staff. Once that has been done you and your pet will be able to board your aircraft, which is a short walk from the terminal.
When you fly private you pull up to the smaller dedicated terminal, where you’re greeted by a member of staff, who will take all your luggage into the lounge. You are able to relax in the lounge until your aircraft is ready to depart.
Security
If you’re travelling on a larger aircraft with your pet, you will go through the security screening process on a private flight. This is a much easier and quicker process, than a commercial flight.
It’s only your travelling party being screened. When you choose a private jet flight you’ll find it’s a less intrusive security check on all passengers prior to boarding.
Inflight
Your pet cat or dog, will sit in the cabin with you at all times. On larger aircraft, with a stand up cabin, your pet can move around freely once the aircraft is airborne. Certain operators will require you to keep pets in their cage, in the cabin. If you have special treats for your pet, we can ensure that it will be on the aircraft for your flight.
On larger planes such as the Embraer Legacy 650, it’s split up into 3 separate zones, perfect for your pet to move around the cabin.
Some aircraft with smaller cabins, only allow a small pet onboard due to the cabin size. So it’s important to let us know what type of pet you have and their weight.
Arrival
On landing you don’t have to wait around to get off your aircraft, with hundreds of other passengers. Your luggage is quickly taken out of the hold and meets you in the private jet terminal reception minutes later.
On arrival you will be met by a member of Pets On Jets in Manchester, who will check your pets details, make sure they match and it’s up to date. Once that’s been completed you can get in your car and go.
You can enter or return to the UK with your pet cat, dog or ferret if it:
- Has been microchipped.
- Has a pet passport or third-country official veterinary certificate.
- Has been vaccinated against rabies – it will also need a blood test if you’re travelling from an ‘unlisted country’.
Dogs must also usually have a tapeworm treatment. Your pet may be put into quarantine for up to 4 months if you don’t follow these rules – or refused entry if you travelled by sea. You’re responsible for any fees or charges.
Travelling with your pet
Your pet must arrive in the UK no more than 5 days before or after you, or you’ll have to follow different rules. You must use an approved transport company and route unless you’re travelling between the UK and Ireland.
Countries the UK accepts pet passports from and listed countries
You must wait 21 days after the vaccination (or the last of the primary course of vaccinations) before bringing your pet to the UK from an EU country, or another country. The UK accepts pet passports from a listed country.
Tapeworm treatment for dogs.
A vet must treat your dog for tapeworm and record it in the pet passport or third-country official veterinary certificate every time you want to bring it to the UK.
The treatment must have been given no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours (5 days) before you enter the UK. Your dog can be refused entry or put into quarantine if you don’t follow this rule.
