04 Sep Private Jet Trip To Florence
This private jet charter flight, was for a first time client, who wanted to fly from Manchester to Florence, for a three-week holiday with their four dogs (Jack Russell’s). Falcona sourced the most appropriate aircraft to fly the two adults and four dogs. With it being a pet charter flight we had to find a DEFRA approved operator that can return to Manchester with their pets.
An extra passenger was added onto the original charter request for the return flight home. Falcona contacted the operator to make sure that this would be fine. This is one of the benefits of private jet charter flights, you can add passengers to your flight as long as the aircraft can safely seat the extra guests.
On arrival back home in Manchester, our clients were met by the pet charter services who were waiting to check that all the passports and treatments for the dogs complied with DEFRA. This took approximately five minutes and they were on their way home, no fuss no stress.
Why charter a private jet for your pet?
The best and most ideal solution for your pet is too travel on-board with you. When you fly on a private jet with your pet, check in is just 30 minutes prior to your departure. You depart from the same terminal. You park right outside the terminal and walk straight through to the passenger lounge. Your pet travels in the cabin with you. No crowded airports or long security process to go through. Variety of private jets to choose from. You can choose their favourite in-flight meal. Flying with your pet is less stressful for you and your pet.
Regulations
As long as your pet passport is all cleared, you and your pet can board your aircraft. On your return your pet will be checked and have its microchip scanned. This is swift procedure and can be done either on or on the ramp. Once all the relevant documents have been seen, you can head straight to your car, without the need to collect your pet from a different terminal. Our aim is to make you and your pet as comfortable as possible.
Tapeworm treatment for dogs
A vet must treat your dog for tapeworm and record it in the pet passport or third-country official veterinary certificate every time you want to bring it to the UK. The treatment must have been given no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours (5 days) before you enter the UK. Your dog can be refused entry or put into quarantine if you don’t follow this rule.
You don’t need to treat your dog for tapeworm if you’re coming directly to the UK from Finland, Ireland, Malta or Norway.
The treatment must:
be approved for use in the country it’s being given in
have praziquantel or an equivalent as its active ingredient

INBOUND FLIGHT – CESSNA CITATION CJ2+
For the inbound flight from Florence to Manchester, we chartered a CJ2+ private jet with the same company. This was the best option for our clients, rather than a return flight on the same aircraft with the same company.
With a cabin 31 inches longer than the original CJ1, you can seat more people in the CJ2+. Up to 6 passengers, so go ahead, bring along the whole family. Or senior leadership team, for that matter. The CJ2+ is certified to fly at 45,000 feet (13,716 m).
You can also take advantage of favourable winds, so you’re more likely to fly above weather in a CJ2+ than the turboprop it typically replaces. And if the winds are in your favour, you will reach your destination that much sooner.
Climb to 45,000 feet (13,716 m) in just 28 minutes. Cruise at 418 knots (774 km/hr) and range 1,613 nautical miles (2,987 km). Considering this increased speed and range, the CJ2+ has most definitely earned the distinguishing plus sign.
Issues
Florence unfortunately has a short runway, and is affected by the strong winds which meant that the aircraft wasn’t able to land there to pick up our clients.
“Hi Adrian, following our phone conversation our aircraft had to divert to Bologna due to weather (winds) in Florence. Pisa, the next alternate, unfortunately declined us due to lack of capacity. The aircraft is so on now in Bologna. Please let me know if we can assist you with e.g. a transfer.
We notified the PA of our client as soon as we found out about the situation, letting them know that they would have to get to Bologna Airport. Although it was an inconvenience to the clients they fully understood the situation and got to the airport within the hour. Once there they were on the aircraft in ten minutes and on their way home.
Feedback
Clients were happy with the flying experience and the process for booking a private jet, however due to the inconvenience of having to travel to Bologna they were a bit put out having to drive to Bologna Airport. The driver was waiting at the private terminal at Manchester to take them straight home.
