Falcona organised a last minute return private jet charter flight from Manchester to Gdansk. On a Cessna Citation CJ3 light jet, for 2 passengers. The reason for the last minute flight was to attend the Europa League Final, Manchester United against Villareal.

Once we had the enquiry from our website, we searched our professional database for suitable aircraft to send quotes to the client. Due to the nature of the request, we kept in touch with the passengers via WhatsApp and text as it is much quicker.

The aircraft we chose were a Bombardier Learjet 40, Cessna Citation CJ2 and Cessna Citation CJ3 as all thee aircraft were available and capable of direct flight.

However with it being a last minute charter, and during the busiest week of the year in Manchester. We had school holiday flights, UEL flights to Gdansk, and the Champions League final in Porto. So aircraft were thin on the ground to say the least.

Sourcing aircraft

So with few aircraft left to charter, slots in Manchester and Gdansk limited, this was a tough charter flight to do. We sent our requests and got two aircraft that could possibly do the charter flight. Once it was in the process of going through both operators were not able to complete the return charter due to crew duty hours due to booked flights the next day.

With it being the final it was possible that the game could go into extra time and penalties. Delaying the flight and going over the crew duty period. Falcona eventually sourced a Citation CJ3 on the morning of the flight.

It was a mad rush to get all the passenger details, pre – flight tests, locator and health forms ready and sent to the relevant authorities in time.  We also had to wait for getting the right slots we requested.

Our passengers were also concerned if the match went into extra time and penalties. We assured them that would be ok and the plane, would adjust the departure time and slot to match passengers arrival after the match.

We also booked their transfers to and from Manchester Airport and in Gdansk all arrivals had to make their way to the stadium.

Everything was eventually completed at around 10.30am of the morning of the match! We got the slots they requested.

As it turned out the match went to extra time and penalties (one of the longest and best penalty shootouts in a final). So our passengers got to the airport much later than planned.

Passenger: It’s going to be tight getting back for the flight, taxis a free for all and just one/terminal check in. Just getting the shuttle to the airport.

We kept in touch with the operator, passenger and transfers all night until they were safely onboard, and back home in Manchester. The flexibility of private jet charter, is evident at times like this as the passengers were due to depart at 23:30 local.

Operational Notes

Poland is on the amber list for entering England.

Pre-travel and arrival – Supporters should have a negative PCR test before travelling and within 72 hours of departure. A test result with passport will be needed at the airport.

Stadium entry – Proof of a negative Covid test taken within 72 hours (PCR test) or 48 hours (antigen test) of the game will be required.

Returning to the UK – You must have proof of a negative COVID-19 test to travel to England from abroad. Supporters who are returning to the UK within three days can use the result of the COVID-19 test they took in the UK before they travelled to Portugal.

The service on which they will arrive in the UK must set off within three days of when they took the test. You must complete a passenger locator form before you travel to England.

The Cessna Citation CJ3 is an extremely popular charter aircraft. The CJ3 has one of the longest cabins in the light jet class, giving passengers plenty of room to stretch out.

The additional stretch in the cabin over the CJ2 makes for an even roomier cabin, which allows for increased productivity.

Long-legged people even have room to stretch out and enjoy their time in the plane. Seven passengers can enjoy the bevy of natural light afforded by the fourteen windows.

In addition to the increased room in the cabin, there is a tremendous amount of baggage space available.
