How Much Will It Cost To Hire A Helicopter?

Chartering your own helicopter for the day can be much more affordable than you may think. Many operators in the UK charge for the flying time, your pilots will wait for you at your destination to bring you back home, either later in the day or the next day.

Helicopter prices, will vary based on the  generally depend on how far you are travelling, how many passengers are flying, landing fees, fuel, number of pilots and the duration of your trip. If you’re travelling as part of a small group then this can be a viable option.

Depending on the type of aircraft that you charter, will also have a bearing on the price. The smallest aircraft that we charter is a Twin Squirrel that seats up to 5 passengers, and the largest is an 16 seater Sikorsky S92.

Twin engine helicopters allow you to fly in adverse weather and at night unlike single engine helicopters, which is why it’s more expensive to charter a twin engine helicopter for charter flights.

Helicopter Take Off From Golf Club

The great thing about helicopter charter is that you can virtually land and take off from anywhere in the UK. Helicopters can access remote areas, golf courses and fields, which gives them a distinctive advantage over other travel modes.

  • You will need the land owners permission and the area has to be suitable for a helicopter to land. If you’re landing at night, then lighting must be put out in order for the aircraft to land safely. This can be done by another member of the family or someone at the golf course.
  • Landing at your home or a golf course will keep the costs down as landing and taking off at major airports can be a lot more expensive. For instance we always quote our clients from Manchester Barton instead of Manchester Airport due to the difference in cost. However it is up to the client and where they will be going to next which will also have a bearing on where to land.

Take off from City Heliport Manchester

The total price you pay will generally include, landing fees, repositioning fees, crew overnight expenses, fuel and standard catering. You may be charged for any out of hour charges, if the airfield has to remain open to allow you to land safely, but you will be notified of all this before your flight.

If you have your own private land as some of our customers do, then this will help to keep your costs down. We would take your postcode and determine from the location whether it would be a suitable spot to depart and arrive into.

VAT is added onto your bill for smaller helicopters, whilst larger more powerful ones like the EC155 and Sikorsky are VAT exempt. Occasionally it can be more cost effective to charter a larger helicopter due to the fact there is no VAT added to the price.
