Helicopter charter is very similar to private jet charter, however there are slightly different rules, regulations and general things which are different.
1. WHO OWNS THE AIRCRAFT
Your helicopter will be either owned by the operator outright or more commonly it will belong to someone who has made it available for charter when they are not using the aircrfat.
2 HOW SAFE IS HELICOPTER CHARTER
Extremely safe, especially the twin engine helicopters that we use for charter flights. Pilots on these aircraft are more competent and highly skilled to fly in all types of weather.
3 CAN I JUST PURCHASE ONE SEAT
No, you will have to pay for the whole aircraft. It is more cost effective if you fill all the seats and split the costs.
4 WHAT ARE THE GENERAL COSTS INVOLVED
On smaller helicopters such as the AS355, VAT is added onto the charter price. On larger aircraft like the EC155 there is no added VAT. You will pay for the aircraft repositioning, any out of hour charges and landing fees if applicable.
1 HOW FAR IN ADVANCE CAN I BOOK
You can book as early as you like. For major sports events like the British Grand Prix or Royal Ascot we would recommend that you book 2-3 months in advance due to it being busy and slots need to be booked.
2 HOW DO I PAY FOR MY FLIGHT
We accept bank transfers and all major credit and debit cards. Mastercard and American Express and Visa.
3 TO WHAT DESTINATIONS CAN I FLY TO
Anywhere in the UK, just give us the postcode and we will locate an area suitable for landing as close as possible.
4 CAN I FLY TO MAJOR AIRPORTS
Yes you can however, where possible we will try to find an alternative landing spot due to the higher fees involved in landing at a major hub airport.
5 CAN I CHANGE SCHEDULE
Yes that’s the great thing about private helicopter charter. Just let us know what you need to change as soon as possible, however you may incur extra charges if you land out of airport hours etc.
6 HOW MANY SEATS
You can charter from a 5 seater helicopter such as the Airbus AS355 up to 8 seats on a Sikorsky S76 aircraft.
7 WHAT ARE THE CANCELLATION FEES
Yes, unfortunately there will cancellation fees due, depending on when you cancel. The closer to departure date the more you will have to pay.
1 WHERE DO I GO TO BOARD MY HELICOPTER
If you’re leaving from a main airport, the FBO (Fixed Base Operator) will be located away from the main terminal and we will send you directions, the same for golf clubs or other locations.
2 WHAT HAPPENS AT AIRPORT
You will be met by the pilot, who will load your luggage into the baggage area. Pilot will then give you a safety talk and if you have any questions you will be able to ask them. Once all that is done the pilot will begin preparations for take off.
2 IS GROUND TRANSPORT INCLUDED
No, but we can arrange this for you on request.
3 WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED
Some operators request that you bring your passport documents depending on where you are flying to. Most of the time as you are flying in the UK we will just take your passport details and pass them onto the operators.
4 HOW LONG BEFORE FLIGHT SHOULD I ARRIVE
Your aircraft will be there ready for take off an hour before you get there. We recommend that you arrive 15 minutes before departure.
5 HOW MUCH LUGGAGE CAN I BRING
This all depends on the aircraft that you charter. Luggage capacity is limited on the AS355 and Agusta 109 helicopter, bring one medium sized soft bag per person. On larger aircraft you can afford to bring two medium bags per person and other larger items. Let us know before your flight so that we can check with the operators as each aircraft differs slightly.
1 WHAT CAN I EXPECT ONBOARD
Basic comfortable environment on the AS355 but on the larger more expensive aircraft you will have luxurious leather seats. Noise reducing interiors, airshows and amazing views!
2 DO YOU GET CATERING OR MEALS
Snacks and drinks can be made available on smaller helicopters, whilst on the larger ones you can have catering such as sandwiches, croissants, etc and newspapers/ magazines.
3 ONE PILOT OR TWO
Generally you will have one pilot for your flight, unless you request a second pilot, or duty hours are involved.
4 PETS ALLOWED
Yes, your pet can fly as long as it the right size and weight and has all the correct pet travel documents.
5 WHAT HAPPENS ONCE I ARRIVE
You can transfer to a private jet, chauffeured car and then be whisked off to your final destination. The beauty of helicopters is that sometimes you can land directly at your destination.
1 SINGLE OR TWIN ENGINE HELICOPTER
We only charter twin engine helicopters. This is because they can be flown day or night and in adverse weather. It is a legal requirement that all IFR (Instrumental Flight Rules) helicopters are twin engined. IFR qualifications are difficult and expensive to gain, but theses pilots will know the aircraft inside out and be more competent. A safer journey.
2 FLYING AT NIGHT
Only twin engine for charters can legally fly at night. A twin engine helicopter has far more freedom, especially when it comes to flying at night and over congested areas.
3 WHERE CAN I LAND
You can land pretty much anywhere, with a helicopter as long as it’s safe and suitable to and you have the permission of the land owner.
